New Spellings – 28.05.2021

Good afternoon Elm!

This week, in our Phonics sessions, we have been learning that the letter ‘y’ can make and ‘igh’ phoneme, and ‘ee’ phoneme or an ‘i’ phoneme.Β  Your spellings all reflect this and are words that we have practised in school and will continue to practise too.

They are:-

  • why,
  • dry,
  • spy,
  • my,
  • mummy,
  • daddy,
  • funny,
  • gym,
  • myth,
  • crystal

These spellings will be tested on Friday 11th June.

They are called ‘Alternative pronunciations of the ‘y’ grapheme’ on Spelling Shed.

I shall also be looking at the leader board on Friday morning and rewarding the top 3 on it with Dojo points.Β  Everyone who practises their spellings will receive a Dojo.

Homework – 26.05.21

For the past two weeks, we have been focusing on finding a quarter in maths. For homework, we would like the children to implement what they have learnt with two activities!

This homework is to be handed in on Tuesday 8th June 2021.

These spellings will be tested on Friday 28th May.

They are called ‘Words where ‘a’ says ‘o” on Spelling Shed.

Healthy Diet Clipart - The Guide Ways

As part of our ‘Cooking up a Storm’ week in school, we would like the children to design a healthy lunchbox as part of their homework.

We have spoken about healthy and unhealthy foods in school as part of our D&T and RSHE topics last term so the children should be experts in this!

I have attached a sheet you may wish to use but you can be as creative as you like with this task!

This homework is to be handed in on Monday 24th May 2021.
