New Spellings – 26.03.2021

Good afternoon Elm!

In our phonics sessions this week, we have been revisiting some of the phonemes that you will have learnt during the remote learning period and our weekly spellings reflect this.  This means that you might have learnt some of these words before.

The spellings for this week are:-

  • find
  • pint
  • mind
  • gold
  • hold
  • don’t
  • lady
  • bagel
  • angel
  • apron

These spellings will be tested on Friday 23rd April.

They are called ‘Alternative Pronunciations’ on Spelling Shed.

I shall also be looking at the leader board on Friday morning and rewarding the top 3 on it with Dojo points.  Everyone who goes on Spelling Shed will receive a Dojo.

Homework – 24.03.21

British Science Week 2021 – 11 of the Best resources and lesson plans for KS1 and KS2

For this week’s homework, we would like the children to design a new invention/innovation – it could be a machine, product or a service which could help your family, school or even make the world a better place.

  • Draw and explain your invention on a poster – either A4 or A3 paper.
  • You can use crayons, paint, craft materials such as pipe cleaners, wool, string, beads, pompoms etc.
  • You can also include pop-ups and tabs if you want to.

There will be a prize for the best entry in each class (judged by your teachers).

The winning entries will also be photographed by Mrs Lakes and sent into the British Science Week poster competition.

Homework is to be handed in Monday 29th March.

Happy designing!

Miss Baggott and Mrs Bagshaw 🙂

Homework – 17.03.2021

This week, in our Geography lesson, we have been learning about the different types of weather.

For your homework, I would like you to complete a weather diary recording the different weather that you see from Thursday 18th March to Sunday 21st March.

There are 3 different diaries, so please choose the one that you feel is most appropriate for your child.

This homework is to be handed in on Monday 22nd March.

If you have any issues, please do not hesitate to contact me via email – caroline.bagshaw@taw.org.uk.

Returning Back to School

As most of you are probably aware, all children are to return to school on Monday 8th March 2021. I am so excited to see you all and welcome you back to the classroom!

This should be an exciting time but some children may feel a little nervous or worried about returning back to school as they haven’t been in the building for quite some time.

Mrs Corke, one of our wonderful TA’s in year one, has found this PowerPoint about returning back to school after lockdown.  You may wish to share this with your child and discuss how they are feeling about returning to school.
