Here is all the work that Elm class will be doing this week.  For those children who are not in school, please can you complete the work and bring it in when you return.

We will be looking at the phoneme ‘oy’ http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aodJQr-WJLk

You can use Phonics Play to practise this phoneme https://legacy.phonicsplay.co.uk/# as well as ICT Games  http://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/literacy.html

Monday:-

English

Today we will be recapping the main features of a non-chronological report and consolidating our understanding of what a subheading is – show an example and explain how sub-headings help organise related information clearly.

Children are to cut and stick the paragraphs of writing and match them with the suitable subheadings.

Please could the children watch this video https://vimeo.com/470964093 and then complete the ‘Finding the Difference’ worksheet.

Finding the Difference

Theme

This week we are going on a Virtual Walk of Priorslee Lake to see what features (both man-made and physical) we could find.  We will also be noting what wildlife there was on the lake. https://youtu.be/UOkviGuep0Y

I would like the children to watch this video and to note down what they see (feel free to pause the video to allow them to make their observations).  I would also like them to classify the features as wither man-made or physical.

Tuesday:-

Find the Difference

RSHE

Over the next few weeks, we will be thinking about how we walk when we are out and about and how we should cross the roads.

  • When we are walking anywhere, what should we do?
  • If we wanted to cross the road, how would we do this?
  • If there isn’t one of these available, what should we do?

Play ‘The Boy who couldn’t be bothered to find a safe place to cross’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxHBVgM9zfg

When we cross the road, we should look for a place where we can see the cars (not a bend, not between parked cars) and we should stop, look, listen and think.  Tell them that this is called the Green Cross Code.

  • Stop – by the kerb in a safe place
  • Look – left, right, left and keep looking as you walk across the road
  • Listen – for cars or any other vehicles
  • Think – is it safe to cross.

Please complete the ‘Stop, Look and Listen’ worksheet.

Today we will be comparing numbers using the ‘more than’ symbol (>), the ‘less than’ symbol (<) or the ‘same as’ symbol (=).  Children will need to put a missing number in each statement so that they make sense.

Complete the statements

Today the children will be writing their non-chronological report about foxes.

The children will be using the information we collected on Friday to write their report.

Children are to complete the first two sections of their report about foxes.  They are to give their report a title, a brief introduction (using the key information) and to write a paragraph (where does a fox live?) with a subheading.

Explain to the children that they will be writing the second part of their non-chronological report today.

I would like the children to edit their non-chronological report today.

  • Have they got a capital letter at the start of each sentence?
  • Have they got a full stop at the end of each sentence?
  • Have they used finger spaces?
